Are you all bready for this?
If you’re a long-term DONOVANS fan, you may remember our pancake challenge last year, where, following a public vote, Brad brought it home with his Japanese souffle pancakes.
But now, a year on and with a new venue as part of the DONOVANS family, we thought it was the perfect time for a rematch. And what better way to do it than to pay homage to the Link Eatery’s regular toastie menu with a toastie challenge.
Representing the Surf Club, we have Matt, Bryan, Riley, Tyler, Warwick, Adam, Jimmy, Jess, and from the Link we have Brad and Lucy.
Of course, we also love a bit of friendly competition with the outcome entirely resting in the public’s hands, so this is where you come in.
Starting Saturday, 5 April, two new toasties will hit the all-day menu at the Surf Club every week for five weeks. Try them, critique them, and VOTE!

First Up! Saturday 5 April - Friday 11 April
Our first contenders are up, and this we’ll kick off on Saturday with Bryan and Riley taking on the challenge bread-first and looking to “steak” their claim on the podium.
Presenting… Bryan’s Steak Toastie - featuring tender steak, crispy chili for a kick, scallion egg for a savoury twist, and creamy avocado, all toasted to perfection.
Not to be outdone, we have Riley’s Philly Cheesesteak Toastie - featuring juicy steak, sautéed onions and capsicum, and melted American cheddar, all packed into a perfectly toasted sandwich.
Either option is served deli-style, with a side of potato crisps, shaved manchego cheese and a pickle. Remember, these are only on the menu for this week, and missing out could be a big missed steak.
And don’t forget: we need YOU to help us decide the winner at the end of the competition.
